Canada’s Coat of Arms Spoon Ring, Classic Vintage Silverware Jewelry, Art Deco Ring, "Sea to Sea", League of Nations, Adjustable Handmade

Canada’s Coat of Arms consists of four countries symbolic to Canada’s history. The arms are those of England, Scotland, Ireland and France, with a “difference” to mark them as Canadian, namely, on the lower third of the shield, a sprig of maple on a silver shield. The crest is a lion holding in its paw a red maple leaf, a symbol of sacrifice. The lion upholds the Union Jack, and the unicorn the ancient banner of France.

The coat of arms symbolizes 3 features. Canadians stand to their King in as close a relation as do any of his subjects elsewhere; next, that Canada, an integral part of the British Empire, has emerged from the war a member of the League of Nations; and finally, that Canada was founded by the men of four different races—French, English, Scottish and Irish.
The motto is new—“A mari usque ad mare”—“From sea to sea”, or, in a phrase familiar in Canadian politics and Canadian literature, “ocean to ocean”.

You can be the owner of this One-of-a-Kind Antique Spoon Ring, or give as a gift.

History of Spoon Rings — 17th Century– Romantic Love

There is lore that spoon rings dated back to the 17th century in England – and the legend is tied to romance. The story goes that servants working in manor houses would steal sterling silverware from their master’s homes and craft them into bands because they could not afford a true wedding band. Legend has it that Robin Hood gave his beloved Maid Marian a ring made from a stolen spoon. Given his affection of stealing from the rich and giving to the poor, this legend is not too hard to believe and truly romantic.
The tradition of making spoon rings continues to this day, it reached a fever pitch in the late middle 20th century with rise of the Hippie movement in the 1960s and 1970s.
